Jer’s Crispy Fried Chicken
Ingredients
- chicken thighs
- buttermilk
- flour
- garlic powder
- black and white pepper
- cayenne pepper
- onion powder
- baking powder
- shortening
Directions
- Soak the chicken thighs in buttermilk for an hour.
- Meanwhile, mix flour, garlic powder, black and white pepper, cayenne pepper, onion powder, and baking powder.
- Heat shortening in a dutch oven until it reaches 375ºF.
- When the oil is ready, pour some reserved buttermilk into the flour mixture and stir it with your hands so that it makes tiny sticky chunks.
- Dredge the chicken in the mixture and fry it for 8 minutes on each side.
